To start this period; The President of EFS , Dr. Khawla Al-Muhannadi won the UNEP elections for NGOs MG facilitator (2018). She was also the Co-Chair for MGFC in UNEA4, and she contributed in facilitating and leading the joint work of MGs and especially NGO during UNEA4.

Ms. Al-Muhannadi also was a panelist at the Multi-stakeholder Forum in UNEA4 and she organized and facilitated a session at the Green Tent about Fisheries and Sustainability during UNEA4 .

EFS supported her in her dedicated work to bridge communications between different NGOs around the globe under UNEP umbrella. EFS hosted many consultations and meetings for the NGO MG and for different NGOs that needed technical support.

EFS provided the platform, the technical and secretarial support for all of that. EFS is proud of Dr. Khawla’s global focused and hard work with her strong and calm leadership supported by EFS and other NGOs. Many young NGOs are learning from her.

EFS President contributed to the facilitation of the participation of NGOs ( under UNEP umbrella)   in the Major Groups and Stakeholders Consultations during the Act #ForNature virtual preparatory forum for UNEA-5, 7-10 June 2020, Oslo, Norway  (Oslo Consultation). Her hard work and dedication and empowerment nature resulted in many NGOs speaking and moderating sessions at the Consultation, some of them never did that before in a global space, and they were proud of that. A number of EFS board members, and also other NGOs from different regions supported her, and the results were a success for the NGO MG.
